Today, I visited Musumi's new spring exhibition, a furoshiki specialist manufacturer in Kyoto.
The Tokyo exhibition will be held on June 21st, Wednesday, June 23rd, and Friday, a little later, but I visited the exhibition in Kyoto ahead of schedule.。
The theme of this new exhibition is “Colors and Life”」
Below is a quote from Musumi's website。
Furoshiki has recently been reviewed as a reusable packaging item from the perspective of sustainability.
「We reconsidered the role of wrapping and packaging, and prepared a color lineup so that it can be used in today's life.
In addition to the traditional image of Japanese items, it is also perfectly compatible with fashion, interior, organic and SDGs related items.
Please take a look at the many furoshiki that add color to your life.
When I actually visited, I was fascinated by the beautiful display as usual.
new furoshiki
The first thing that caught my eye was the new MUSUBI ORGANIC plain color that uses organic cotton.
I had the impression that the existing navy red was a traditional Japanese color, but the new colors are natural colors such as dark brown and smoky pink that seem to match the current lifestyle. It seems to be a coloring that imagines the brand to be easy to develop
Certainly, it would be nice to receive it wrapped in such a wonderful wrapping, and it would be fun to think about how to use it after receiving it.
In recent years, furoshiki have had a feminine design, so I'm glad that there are many colors that can be used by men as well.
Similarly, we have increased the number of plain colors for polyester chirimen.
This crepe has a luxurious feel and a more special feeling.
It is more of a Japanese color than the organic cotton series such as matcha and black navy blue, but it seems that pink is a chic gift for mother's day navy blue and black is a chic gift.
Koetsu Chirimen, which uses traditional Japanese motifs such as Rimpa designs and famous textiles, is also increasing in new patterns.
This series can be displayed beautifully as a tapestry, but you can see it by looking at the sample, but by wrapping it, it becomes a different expression than when it is unfolded.
It's hard to imagine how the pattern will come out if you don't get used to it.
A new color has been added to the popular series Isa pattern, which is said to be the furoshiki of Musubi.
The classic plum pattern is a light pink and mint color scheme.
Select a bright yellow color that is popular recently for sprouts
The mint color looks dark in the photo, but it's actually a natural and bright color.
Sustainable initiatives
In addition to the introduction of new products, I asked about various recent activities, and I thought it was wonderful that you are making various sustainable initiatives as a corporate attitude.
Even the product packaging has been changed from individual plastic packaging to a simple paper belt, and the sticker on that belt is also made of paper.
In addition, I received a test version of the recycled furoshiki as a souvenir for participating in the exhibition.
It seems that this is made by finely pulverizing the scraps that are made in the process of making furoshiki and reviving them as threads.
The furoshiki themselves are eco-friendly and sustainable, but as a manufacturer specializing in furoshiki, I am humbled by their attitude of making further efforts.
Furoshiki, which is filled with the spirit of mottainai and ingenuity, is an item that represents Japanese culture, so I would like to convey its charm.
